"the sublime" seems to have subsumed this topic Transgressive, cruel, but also a bit of a cheat (?). Don't like multiple worlds or materialist explanations of the weird (big surprise). Not sure what that has to do with the sublime honestly. Don't quite follow this but he is arguing for a very tight connection between beauty and horror. Not first one, then the other, but they are somehow identical (??)
