A socialist-zionist youth movement that I was involved with in high school (1974-6) roughly. I was more socialist than zionist, although both are rather faded now.

**(1) JVP IS NEITHER ANTI-ISRAEL NOR ANTI-ZIONIST** We do not hold Zionism as a litmus test for membership. Some of our members are Zionists, some are anti-Zionists, and some are non-Zionists. We believe you can define yourself in any of these ways as long as you support an end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank -- including East Jerusalem -- and Gaza, and you advocate for human rights, which naturally apply equally to Israelis and Palestinians.

And of course this kind of thinking found its way into zionism , which from its founding was composed of both leftists and fascist elements. [hm need to say more or less]

I was ostensibly a Zionist back in high school (see Hashomer Hatzair), although never a very enthusiastic one. Nowadays, not so much. So this page is mostly anti-Zionism. See also Jewish Voice for Peace and Collected thoughts about Israel/Gaza.

I can't find a consistent and coherent position for myself on this issue, which is not a problem unique to me, any progressive American Jew is probably going through the same thing.
