Contest is part of human life everywhere that human life is found. - It was obvious that Brian O'Blivion was based on Marshall McLuhan but I didn't know that another character, Barry Convex, was supposedly based on Northrop Frye, who was McLuhan's big rival Canadian intellectual. Oh and Walter Ong was also part of the Toronto intellectual scene.
