    • New approach: will put in progress or hopeful entries here, not just completion awards.
    • The Ringworld Engineers, Larry Niven Jan 6th, 2025
      • reread after 40 years or so...based on a random Reddit convo. No it wasn't that horribly sexist, although it had a nerdy utilitarian take on sex itself.
    • The Master and Margarita, 5/1
      • took me forever, not sure why, it's a fun book but i wasn't that into it
    • (surely something else between these two? I guess I was busy)
    • V for Vendetta (graphic novel. reread) 9/1
    • Playground, Riehard Powers, Nov 2nd, 2025
      • Normally a Powers fan, this didn't quite do it for me. Maybe too close to home. One of the main characters is a hacker from Evanston, my hometown. Also "Playground" was one of the systems of Vivarium which also did quite a lot of modeling of ocean life. The book was a bit too schematic. Still some lovely depictions of ocean life. Also a nice ref to Finite and Infinite Games, underscoring the theme of life as Play.
