- Something I feel I should know more about.
The DMN creates a coherent "internal narrative" central to the construction of a sense of self.
- The DMN was originally noticed to be deactivated in certain goal-oriented tasks and was sometimes referred to as the task-negative network in contrast with the task-positive network.
- Chapman and one of his commenters was skeptical that this was a brain thing? I can see that, any research purporting to show that "area x of the brain is "Involved in social directed thought such as determining or inferring the purpose of others' actions" seems pretty sus.
- The parts!
- *Posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) & precuneus*:
- combines bottom-up attention with information from memory and perception
- Medial prefrontal cortex
- personal information, autobiographical memories, future goals and events.
- reminds me of my old Emotion Paper which was very Minsky and not looking for specific brain areas, although it probably should have.
- Alright not going to list them all, they are a lot, they all have a very vaguely defined job, and I wonder about the research.
