    • book by Richard O. Prum that somehow marries the idea of performativity (in the trendy gender studies sense) and biology. The "all the way down" means that one thinks of the agency of various biological subsystems (organs, cells, genes) not so much as selfish (in the Dawkins sense) but as selfing, performing themselves into being.
    • I have strong reactions to this idea. It's very much in the spirit of my own work; it plays around with variations on agency. But it also triggers a lot of warning bells. Something off about the whole enterprise. The whole academic queer theory stance. Fuck it, makes me want to be a reactionary incel nerd like nature intended.
    • Note: haven't even really read the book yet, just dabbled around in it.
    • I picked up this book in the midst of my little obsession with free will Choose your own review. Surely whatever the merits of this book it is at least offers a fresh take.
